What is iCAV
The iCAV (an integrative database of cancer associated viruses) is a database, the database contains seven human cancer-related viruses: EBV,HHV-8,HCV,HBV.MCV,HTLV, and HPV.In total, we collected 9213 HBV genome sequences, 6622 HPV genome sequences, 1366 HCV genome sequences, 1103 EBV genome sequences, 204 HTLV genome sequences, 75 HHV8 genome sequences, and 66 MCV genome sequences. The database contains samples from different countries, different sampling methods, and different diseases.iCAV also provides the ability to download sample information.Various search and browse options were provided in the database for convenient queries.
Virus introduction
HBV
Hepatitis B virus (HBV), is a partially double-stranded DNA virus. The full length of the genome is about 3.2 Kbps. It is a member of the family of Hepadnaviridae, and a species of the genus Orthohepadnavirus .The discovery of the virus dates back to the Bronze Age.HBV infection is highly likely to cause hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which seriously harms human health.
HPV
Human papillomavirus (HPV), a DNA virus from the Papillomaviridae family. The full length of the genome is about 8kbps.HPV infection can cause a variety of diseases, such as common warts, genital warts, laryngeal papillomatosis, cervical cancer and so on.HPV is only known to affect humans.
HCV
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a small, enveloped, positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus of the family Flaviviridae. The full length of the genome is about 9.6 kbps.Infection with hepatitis C may cause cancer, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and many diseases, such as cirrhosis of the liver.
EBV
The Epstein–Barr virus (EBV), formally called Human gammaherpesvirus 4,which is a double-stranded DNA virus. It contains about 172,000 base pairs . It is associated with Burkitt lymphoma, and Hodgkin's lymphoma; non-lymphoid malignancies such as gastric cancer and nasopharyngeal carcinoma; and conditions associated with human immunodeficiency virus .Commonly, it also causes nasopharyngeal cancer and other common cancers.
HTLV
The human T-lymphotropic virus ,human T-cell lymphotropic virus, or human T-cell leukemia-lymphoma virus (HTLV) is retrovirus .The genome is about 9kbps in length. This virus is known to cause a type of cancer called adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma and a demyelinating disease called HTLV-1 associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP).
HHV8
Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) a herpesvirus, and is a large double-stranded DNA virus. It is the ninth known human herpesvirus; its formal name is Human gammaherpesvirus 8, or HHV-8 in short.KSHV has a genome which is approximately 165,000 nucleic acid bases in length. This virus causes Kaposi's sarcoma, a cancer commonly occurring in AIDS patients, as well as primary effusion lymphoma, HHV-8-associated multicentric Castleman's disease and KSHV inflammatory cytokine syndrome.
MCV
Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCV or MCPyV) was first described in January 2008 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Polyomaviruses are small which is approximately 5400 nucleic acid bases in length, non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA viruses. It is suspected to cause the majority of cases of Merkel cell carcinoma.
